to Franklin’s Cafe and Michael & Jane
Set in a beautiful old industrial building in the heart of Portslade, and just off the sea front. Originally built as a Methodist Chapel, dating from 1907 and used for many years after that as a tyre and exhaust garage! you will find our unique family run antiques business and cafe.
We have a large selection of antique furniture available to buy, we always try to stock a selection of chest of drawers, wardrobes, and and will happily deliver direct to your home free of charge (locally).
We source interesting paintings, objects d’art, vintage one off pieces, gardenalia, mirrors, beautiful Italian chandeliers, home ware, cards and gifts.
We are proud to be the main Annie Sloan Chalk Paint supplier in Sussex. Chalk Paint contains no lead, zero V CO’s and is odourless. It is extremely user friendly requiring little or no preparation – so no sanding or priming!
We have lots of examples of painted and waxed furniture and sample boards to help you make your choice and always on hand to give you advice and tips on how to achieve the best result at home. Regular Painting Workshops are held in the shop so why not drop by and book a place.
Franklin’s cafe was a welcomed addition to the antique shop back in March 2016. Sitting among our furniture and probably at one of our tables for sale! you can enjoy great coffee, homemade cakes vegan & gluten free options, hot and cold lunches and daily specials. We have a large sunny South facing forecourt with ample seating and during the summer months we open up our doors to give a real summer feel. Winter we have a cosy log burner. Come and enjoy a coffee, sit and read and enjoy the informal atmosphere.
Children and dogs always welcome. We have good disabled access, but our toilet is not wheelchair friendly & we do not have baby changing facilities sorry!
We are a NO SMOKING cafe inside and outside…….
